Everything people ask before, during and after a garden, grouped by when it tends to come up.

Quotes and cost

How much does a new garden cost?

It depends on the size, the stone work and the irrigation. The first visit is free and ends with a rough range; a fixed quote follows the design, line by line.

Is the first visit really free?

Yes. An hour in the garden with Ingrid or one of the designers, anywhere from Sagunto to Dénia. You keep the notes and the rough range, with nothing to sign.

Can the price change once we start?

Only if you change the plan. The quote is fixed line by line, and anything we find underground, like old foundations or rock, is priced before we touch it.

How do payments work?

A third when the design is approved, a third when the hard landscaping is finished, and the rest at handover. Care plans are billed monthly.

Do you work on small gardens?

Often. Courtyards and terraces under 50 m² are some of our favourite gardens. Design is priced by size, so a small garden has a small fee.

Design and building

Do I need a permit?

Planting never does. Walls over a metre, pergolas and pools often need a notice to the town hall. We prepare and file the paperwork as part of the quote.

How long does a garden take?

A design takes three to four weeks. Building takes from two weeks for a courtyard to four months for a large villa garden, most of it on the stone work.

Do I need to be at home while you work?

No. Most clients give us a key and a gate code. The site lead sends photos at the end of each day and calls if a decision is needed.

Can I take the design to another builder?

Yes. The drawings are yours once the design fee is paid, with every measurement and plant needed to price the work.

What happens to the old garden?

We keep what is worth keeping, usually old trees, stone and good soil. Everything else is cleared, sorted and recycled, and the site is left clean every evening.

Plants and water

When is the best time to plant?

Autumn, from October to December, when the soil is still warm and the rains arrive. Spring works too. We build the hard landscaping in summer so planting can start on time.

What does the plant guarantee cover?

Every plant we put in is replaced free if it fails within two years, as long as the irrigation we installed stays on. On a care plan, the guarantee never ends.

Will my garden need much water?

Less than you think. Our gardens use mostly Mediterranean and native plants on drip lines. Once settled, many need water once a week in summer and none in winter.

Can I keep a lawn?

Yes, though we will suggest a tougher mix or a meadow for the parts nobody walks on. Both use a fraction of the water of a classic lawn.

Do you use pesticides?

Almost never. Healthy planting in the right place rarely needs them. When something does, we start with the gentlest option and tell you before we use it.

Care plans

Can you take over a garden someone else built?

Yes. We start with a visit and a tidy-up quote, then move it onto a care plan. Many of our care clients came to us this way.

How often do you visit?

Every two weeks from March to October and once a month in winter, on the same day and with the same gardener wherever possible.

What is included in a care plan?

Pruning, weeding, feeding, checking the irrigation, seasonal planting and clearing up. Larger jobs like tree work or new beds are quoted separately.

Can I pause the plan while I am away?

Yes, though a garden misses its gardener more than its owner. Many clients keep the plan running and get a short note with photos after each visit.

Is there a minimum term?

No. Plans run month to month and can be stopped with thirty days' notice.
