The garden
The old terrace walls had collapsed in the floods of 2019, and every storm since had taken more of the slope into the lane. The owners wanted the terraces back, built the way they were.
Our wallers rebuilt three terraces with the stone that was already on site, plus 12 tonnes from a quarry in Benissa to match. No cement: the walls drain through their joints, which is why the old ones lasted a century.
The top terrace holds six citrus trees, the lower two are planted with rosemary and thyme that hang over the edges. We now visit every month on a care plan.
Before and after
Taken from the same corner of the garden, the week we started and the summer after.

Three storms since the walls went up, and not one stone has moved. The lane below stays clean.
