Dry stone wall with rosemary

Landscaping

Terraces, paths, dry stone walls, pergolas and decking, built by our own crews.

Duration
Four to ten weeks
Areas
Sagunto to Dénia

Joan Ribera learned to build dry stone walls with his father in Sagunto, and the build crews still work the same way: local stone, laid by hand, made to outlast the house.

Paths, terraces and walls go in first, so the planting can start in the cool months on ground that is ready for it.

What is included

  • Site clearing and levels
  • Dry stone walls and retaining walls
  • Paths, steps and terraces in natural stone
  • Pergolas, decking and screens
  • Drainage and soil preparation for planting
  • Ten year guarantee on stone work

How it goes

  1. Setting out

The plan pegged on site, so every line can be checked before the first stone.

  2. Ground work

Levels, drainage and foundations, with the soil kept for the planting.

  3. Stone and wood

Walls, paths and structures, built by the same crew from start to finish.

  4. Ready to plant

Beds prepared, irrigation sleeves in, site cleared for the planting crew.

About landscaping

All questions

What people ask on the first visit.

Where does the stone come from?

From quarries within 100 km, and reclaimed stone whenever we can find it, so new walls sit with the old terraces around them.

Do you need a permit for walls?

Walls over a metre and pergolas often need a notice to the town hall. We prepare and file it as part of the quote.

Can you build without the design?

Yes, from your own plans or an architect's. We check them on site first and point out anything that would not last.
