Two gardeners planting a young olive tree in a gravel garden

Planting and lawns

Borders, trees, hedges and meadow lawns that stay green through August.

Duration
One to three weeks, October to April
Areas
Sagunto to Dénia

Most of the work in a garden is underground. We spend as long on the soil as on the plants, and choose every tree at the nursery by eye.

Planting happens in the cool months, so the roots have a winter to settle before the first summer.

What is included

  • Soil improvement and mulch
  • Trees, including mature olives and carobs
  • Borders and hedges from local nurseries
  • Meadow lawns and drought tolerant grass
  • Gravel and dry gardens
  • Two year plant guarantee

How it goes

  1. Choosing

A visit to the nursery with the planting list, picking each tree by eye.

  2. Preparing

Soil opened, improved and watered before anything goes in.

  3. Planting

Trees first, then shrubs, then the small plants, in the cool months.

  4. Settling in

A check after the first summer, with anything that failed replaced free.

About planting and lawns

All questions

What people ask on the first visit.

When is the best time to plant?

Autumn, from October to December, when the soil is still warm and the rains arrive. Spring works too.

Can a lawn survive August here?

A meadow lawn or a drought tolerant grass can, on drip and cut high. A classic English lawn will always struggle.

Do you plant mature trees?

Yes, olives and carobs up to a hundred years old, moved with a crane and a lot of care.
