The garden
The garden was well planted but disappeared at sunset, which in July is when the owners got home. One bulb by the door lit the steps and nothing else.
We ran a single low voltage circuit along the path with eight small fittings set into the edge, and put an uplight under each olive. Everything is 2700 K, aimed down or into the canopy, and on a timer that switches off at midnight.
While the beds were open we replaced the patchy grass with drifts of stipa and pennisetum, which catch the light from the path.
Before and after
Taken from the same corner of the garden, the week we started and the summer after.

The lighting is subtle, the way we asked. You see the trees at night, not the lamps.
